Help Others In Need

One of the great blessing in life is using what you have to assist those in need.

With careful planning – and the right attitude – you can experience this blessing over and over in the year ahead. Here are a few tips for making the most of your opportunities.

  1. DO IT HUMBLY

God’s people give to others, not because they’re heroic saints or superior human beings, but because they know what it’s like to be on the receiving end of God’s generosity. We give to those in need because we were once in need ourselves. This truth, when properly considered, eliminates ego from the giving process.

  1. DO IT EAGERLY

When it comes to giving, the right attitude can make all the difference in the world. Helping others isn’t just a line item on your budget. It’s an opportunity to play a tangible role in God’s plan – to be used personally by him. That’s one opportunity you should leap at every time it’s offered.

  1. DO IT ANONYMOUSLY, IF POSSIBLE

Make your giving a top-secret project. It’s matter of who gets the credit. If you give conspicuously, you’ll receive credit and praise for it. If you give anonymously, God will get the credit and praise for it. And if the Bible teaches us anything, it’s that good things happen when the glory and honor go to God instead of us.

  1. DO IT CREATIVELY

If your current financial situation prevents you from helping someone monetarily, find other ways to assist. Use your time, your skill, your servant’s heart, and your willingness to get involved where most needed. Remember your assets go deeper than your bank account.

Opportunities for serving are unlimited, from paining and repairing houses to volunteering as a mentor.
